Meet Jeff.

You may know Jeff Betten as the owner-operator of Hellbender Vinyl, Western Pennsylvania’s first and only vinyl record manufacturing plant.

When he first pitched Mayor Peduto’s administration on the idea that Pittsburgh could play a role in the ongoing vinyl revival, back in 2018, few could have predicted that it’d grow so quickly! Betten has now hired eight full-time employees, in addition to several part-time/freelance workers, and even a handful of interns from local universities eager to get first-hand experience in the music industry. With now over 200 satisfied clients and over $1M invested into the Upper Lawrenceville neighborhood, it’s hard to believe that Jeff and his team are just getting started!

Nationwide, there are fewer than 50 vinyl plants in existence today - not even one per state! Why does Pittsburgh have one when cities like Phoenix, Seattle, San Francisco, and Boston don’t?

Because those cities don’t have Jeff Betten.

Jeff has dedicated his life to his hometown of Pittsburgh and is determined to help uplift it at every opportunity. He believes that he can help Pittsburgh grow into a magnet city for the music industry.

When Pittsburgh Magazine and PUMP create their annual 40 Under 40 list in 2025, we’re asking that they include Jeff Betten, a native son who is a credit to our region!
